6/28/07: John Ruth: (Beyond the Amish School Shooting)

October 2006 the world was shocked when a man took over a one room Amish school in Pennsylvania, made all males and adults leave the building, then systematically shot 10 of the female students… before killing himself. Half of the girls survived… 5 did not. But them the world was speechless when this Amish community simply forgave this man, cared for his family, and moved on. To discuss "how" and "why" and what has happened since, John Ruth joins Gene in the Virtual Living Room.

Dr. Narrett is a well respected and well published expert on the Middle East issues, and how they relate to the 'West'. He and Gene discuss the history, present day and likely future scenarios from a practical, military , spiritual and economic perspective. Extremely enlightening...and a bit troubling.

6/20/07: Mathews George, Ernest WItmer & Bob Miller: ( good ol' fashoned visit)

HE'S BACK!!! Mathews George was a regular on the Virtual Living Room, leading a series on Prayer in the Spring of 2006 with Pastor Ernest Witmer. This was part of Mathews' internship finishing his degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. Now this man from India has moved his Indian family to Tennessee under Gods direction ... and he came to visit with us. He also brough his Sr. Pastor along. This is a fun and at times, a 'deep 'chat.

6/19/07: Heidi McGuinness: (Slavery Issues in Darfur)

"Yes" there are slaves in the world today. "Yes" so-called civilized countries know about it. "Yes" it is a political 'hot potato'. And "No" world governments are NOT doing much if anything to free the slaves placed in bondage through the ongoing battles in the Sudan. Heidi McGuinness has recently returned having been able to orchestrate the release of 250 slaves in Darfur. She joins Gene to discuss how, in a chat that will challenge all of us to be more aware of what is going on in the world today.

Jimmy joins Gene to update us on the current status of the civil war and martial law declarations made by the President of the Palestinian Authority. The PA is the ruling body established to govern the land Israel gave up in hopes of peace. What does it mean for the Holy Land, and the Middle East, and peace. Jimmy gets us all up to date.

6/13/07: Jonathan Aitken: ("John Newton: From Disgrace to Amazing Grace"

So you've seen the movie Amazing Grace, and you know the song by heart. You may be thinking you have a pretty good handle on the life and times of John Newton. You might want to rethink that position. Former high level British Cabinet member Jonathan Aitken has penned the first complete autobiography on John Newton since the 18th century. This time with source documents including Newton's personal diaries and letters previously unpublished. The story reads like a novel, but is not fiction. The author, Jonathan Aitken, shares some similar life experiences, and he joins Gene in the Virtual Living Room for an open, honest and enjoyable chat.

6/6/07: Barbara Baldwin, Dr. Heather Duff & Kristen Pennington : ("Dear Soldier")

There is nothing as honest as a child. Sometimes embarrassingly so. But when a child writes a heartfelt letter to an unknown member of the military fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan… you know it will be something special. In this case… 100 'somethings special'. Barbara Baldwin and her two daughters collected letters to soldiers from children... from all over the United States, chose a hundred of them, and put them into this incredible little book called "Dear Soldier". Barbara, her daughter Dr. Heather Duff, and one of the authors join Gene in the Virtual Living Room for this inspiring chat.

6/5/07: Jenell Feller: (Coordinator, Occupational Development Center)

Jenell's personality and style is so delightful it would tempt one to listen to her read the phone book… but Jenell has so much more to say. Issues surrounding the need to help those in our communities who are mentally and/or physically disabled. She is NOT asking for a donation, she is showing us how we can hire an organization that does great work ... and at the same time give hope and meaning to many who have been written off by our society.
